Nintendo could well bring us a big event to mark the start of the year. It’s an almost unmissable event for the firm. Big announcements coming?
And here we go, 2024 has barely started when we are already starting to talk about the next events and future big announcements. While Xbox has already announced its small Direct for mid-January, the competition is also preparing, since it is expected that PlayStation would prepare a myriad of announcements for its future PS5 games. And they’re not the only ones to have something to say, since the outsider Nintendo should also be preparing something.
A Nintendo Direct in the coming weeks? Highly possible
It was the very serious Jeff Grubb who recently spoke about it during a podcast broadcast on Twitch. While Sony is reportedly in the process of launching its own event, Grubb points out that we should expect a Nintendo Direct in February as well. As he says himself, nothing is official. He hasn’t heard anything in particular that could support his words, he’s just pushing through an open door.
And it’s true that a quick look back reveals that Nintendo loves the month of February. In fact, the company always does something planned in general. A global Nintendo Direct, a focus on a particular game… We can go back several years, there has always been an event in February. So why not do it again this year? We will have an answer within a few weeks, in the meantime, we can only theorize.
Any great announcements to be expected?
If there is a Nintendo Direct, what could it possibly show us? This is the big question we ask ourselves. Nintendo has some interesting releases for the start of the year like Mario VS Donkey Kong (February 16) or Princess Peach Showtime! (March 22). Two titles which could well be presented up and down as Big N very often does with its major launches.
We can also imagine that a few surprises could emerge. It is also not uncommon to see Nintendo offer initial visibility to certain unannounced games. Even multiplatform, as recently with Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered For example. Unfortunately, unlike many other players in the industry, Nintendo often remains very mysterious and information is very difficult to filter.
