Baldur’s Gate 3 players always want more and that’s good, Larian Studios does too. The idea that immediately comes to mind after such success is the release of DLC. Indeed, developers have often mentioned this possibility: “We want to do more. We don’t know what yet,” explained the studio’s product manager, Tom Butler, in August 2023. Where is the Baldur’s Gate 3 DLC?
Usually, not having any news is good news, but that’s not the case here. While Larian Studios has continued to tease possible DLC, it has just announced terrible news: he does not exist anymore. Sven Vincke explained, during a conference at the Game Developers Choice Awards, that he started creating one, then abandoned it. “We hadn’t really wrapped up BG3 yet and just moving on to something new didn’t feel right. We also spent a lot of time converting the DnD system into a video game and wanted to do new things ” the man said. However, there was no shortage of ideas, there were too many of them, but incompatible with Baldur’s Gate 3.
It also seems that the fan pressure was too much for Larian Studios. In the same interview, Vincke explains that “the team didn’t really have the heart to work. I told the team, “You know, we’re not going to do it“. We’re going to change direction and we’re going to start doing these other things that we talked about, that we planned to do before we started on Baldur’s Gate 3.
