Big ice cream recall started: Products may contain carcinogenic substances

US manufacturer General Mills is recalling Häagen-Dazs ice cream products. The affected varieties are “Häagen-Dazs Vanilla” in the 460 milliliter and 95 milliliter packs and the “Häagen-Dazs Classic Collection” with the best before dates up to and including May 21, 2023. Residues of ethylene oxide were found in the ice, reports “ProductWarning.eu”.
According to the “NRW Consumer Center”, ethylene oxide is a pesticide and fumigant that is used to combat bacteria and fungi. It is banned from food production in Europe because it can alter the genetic material and cause cancer.
