big leak for the creator’s RPG, it will make people happy

A big leak concerning the RPG of the legendary creator of the Final Fantasy saga, Hironobu Sakaguchi, should please fans. We will explain everything to you.

Final Fantasy is one of the oldest video game licenses. Last December, the cult saga of Square Enix celebrated its 35ᵉ anniversary and Final Fantasy 16 came to enrich the history of the franchise last June on PS5. In addition to FFfans were also treated to many titles more or less inspired by Square Enix RPGs to get their teeth into. The role-playing game designed by the creator of the saga, Hironobu Sakaguchi, is one of them and precisely a big leak concerning it should make some people happy.

FF fans are going to be happy

In 2003, after the release of Final Fantasy X-2 and Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on which he was executive producer, Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of the license, decided to leave Square Enix to found his own studio, Mistwalker. The most significant title developed by the company until 2021 was undoubtedly Lost Odyssey, but that year the studio signed a masterstroke with its new RPG named Fantasian. Unfortunately, the game is only available on Apple Arcade, a real frustration for RPG fans who aren’t subscribed to the service.

But that could soon change. As can be seen thanks to SteamDB, a Steam version of Fantasian would be fine in the pipes. We discover that the page which contains the mention “FANTASIAN Playtest” was put online on July 19 and that its last update dates back to August 2. There is therefore no real doubt to have, the RPG will arrive well on Steam. It remains to be seen when.

Last February, Hironobu Sakaguchi already shared his desire to make Fantasian available on other media. ” There are a lot of requests for a PC release, but also for a sequel, so I’d like to keep working as hard as possible. “confided the creator of the Final Fantasy saga. The exclusive contract that linked Mistwalker to Apple therefore seems to have come to an end, which is very good news for PC gamers. For their part, console owners will continue to give voice so that the RPG arrives on their platform.

Fantasian, the worthy “successor” to Final Fantasy?

Remember that Fantasian, even if it is inspired by “old-school” RPGs such as Final Fantasy, has an identity of its own. For the sets in the game, Mistwalker hired professionals to create beautiful, hand-crafted dioramas. The game had also innovated thanks to the Dimengeon, a dimension in which the player can send the enemies encountered during random fights to face them later and which also includes unique gameplay mechanics. Note that the historical composer of the Final Fantasy saga, Nobuo Uematsu, also worked on the project. When it was released, Mistwalker’s RPG met with great critical success. Its arrival on PC, which remains to be formalized, should therefore make many happy.
