In the second season, Andrea Arnold (“Transparent”) took over his position as director, but Vallée continued to work as a producer on the series.
Shortly after the director’s death, Reese Witherspoon spoke to the US magazine “The Hollywood Reporter”. She talked about a possible comeback of the series and expressed her regret at Jean-Marc Vallée’s death.

So much of this series came from his imagination and creativity, so it’s hard to imagine a future without him. But there is certainly a deep desire on our part to slip into the roles of our characters again.
