Big Performance: Prince Damien surprises as Prince

In the new RTL show "Big Performance – Who is the star in the star?" Jennifer Lopez, Adele, Tom Jones and Prince competed against each other.

The new RTL format "Big Performance – Who is the Star in the Star?" expected. Celebrities with "special effects" masks as well as professional singing and show coaching and legendary stage outfits are transformed into international super stars. The candidates – this time as Jennifer Lopez, Adele, Tom Jones and Prince – perform and sing live on stage and compete against each other. The real identity remains secret.

Moderator Daniel Hartwich (42) explained at the beginning that he doesn't even know who is behind the masks. The voices of the stars were distorted when they spoke over the microphone, during the preparations they had to wear large face masks so that no one would recognize them.

Moderator Michelle Hunziker (43), dancer Motsi Mabuse (39) and fashion designer Guido Maria Kretschmer (55) make up the panel, which in the four shows puzzles with the audience which star is behind which music legend. Hunziker proudly announced that she was well prepared: "I must have googled 400 names of German celebrities. I will pay close attention to it: How do you move? Can you give yourself away with small gestures?"

"JLo" danced and sang in a mega-short mini dress

The show started with "Jennifer Lopez". In a super short mini dress and white patent leather boots, she gave a convincing show with "Let's Get Loud". She danced, sang and tossed her voluminous wig hair over her shoulders just like Lopez and convinced with a perfect swing of the hips and power turns. Michelle Hunziker exclaimed enthusiastically: "Baby, You did it!" The moderator tipped Jeanette Biedermann (40), Guido Maria Kretschmer on Kim Gloss (28) or Helene Fischer (36).

"Tom Jones" mastered the second appearance with a red glitter bolero and an open, white shirt and gold chain. Motsi Mabuse commented: "very cute" – and guessed Hartmut Engler (58), Guido Maria Kretschmer suspected Thomas Anders (57) or Bernhard Brink (68) behind the masquerade. Michelle Hunziker concluded from swinging her hips about age: "That must be someone my father's age," the star speculated, "someone young would not be able to do it that way anymore …"

"Adele" suffered a circulatory collapse backstage

On the third appearance, "Adele" surprised with a contrast program to her fiery predecessors. The English-speaking double of the 15-time Grammy winner delivered a minimalist performance to "Rolling in the Deep" in a black lace dress, but went off like a rocket in terms of voice. The panel was impressed and agreed: the voice must be a professional singer! Maite Kelly (40) was named as a celebrity tip.

What the audience didn't notice was a circulatory collapse of "Adele" behind the scenes. The time-consuming ordeal (the stars sit in the mask for five hours) triggered "palpitations and a feeling of panic" in the celebrity: "I had no idea whether I would manage the first show or not. I just thought from hour to hour "said the Adele double. "I've never had such a challenge in my professional life."

Fourth in the round was "Prince" with "Purple Rain". The performance particularly electrified Michelle Hunziker: "I'm back in my teens! I kissed for the first time in 'Purple Rain'!" Behind the mask, among others, Jorge González (53), Bill Kaulitz (31) and the "DSDS" winner from 2016, Prince Damien (29), were suspected.

In the end, "Prince" has to go

There is no live voting by TV viewers for "Big Performance"; the audience in the hall was allowed to vote for it. "Adele" won 44 percent, followed by "Prince" with 26 percent, closely followed by "Tom Jones" with 24 percent and in last place "JLo" with eight percent.

In the next rounds "Adele" with "Hello" and "Lopez" with "If You Had My Love" as well as "Tom Jones" with "Sexbomb" and "Prince" with "When Doves Cry" competed against each other the former made the race. You will be there again in the next episode.

In the final round of the decision, the runners-up entered the competition. This time, the decision was made by the panel that relied on the hot dance performance plus vocals by "Jennifer Lopez". She's also back in the running for the next episode.

At the end there is a big surprise: who is hiding behind the mask of "Prince"? On the show stage, the star's silicone mask was carefully removed and "Jungle Camp" King Prince Damien actually emerged. So Prince remains Prince! It will continue next Saturday, then "Elton John" will join the group.
