Big price drop for Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and ID.7 electric cars

Volkswagen has bet everything on its electric offensive, now embodied by the ID range. Unfortunately, its models do not meet with the success that was expected, not because of an unfavorable market for electric cars, but rather because Volkswagen is unable to be competitive.

However, all is not lost for Volkswagen, which is reviewing its range for 2024. In France, the manufacturer will benefit in particular from the eligibility of its models for the new ecological bonus (up to a selling price of €47,000) , which excludes Chinese brands with more attractive prices.

ID.3: another little effort

Despite a restyling, the compact Volkswagen ID.3 is selling poorly. In France, more than four MG4s were sold for an ID.3 in 2023 (source: PFA). Fortunately for the German, the MG4, produced in China, is no longer entitled to the ecological bonus in 2024.

The ID.3 Pro (58 kWh) now starts at €39,990 excluding bonuses, with its new entry-level finish ID., i.e. €3,000 less than before, but with slightly reduced equipment . The rest of the range also benefits from a price adjustment and revised equipment, for a customer benefit of up to €6,470.

The ID.3 now displays prices in line with those of its main rival, the Renault Mégane E-Tech. Be careful, however, a price reduction is also expected from the French side. The ID.3 therefore joins the ranks, but does not become cheap for all that.

ID.4 and ID.5: SUVs prepare to welcome new rivals

For its ID.4 SUV and its ID.5 coupe version, Volkswagen has brought more important new features. It must be said that they will have to compete in 2024 with the new Renault Scénic E-Tech and Peugeot e-3008. Volkswagen SUVs thus receive a new infotainment system and a more efficient electric motor, among other things.

The ID.4 is now sold from €43,990 and the ID.5 from €50,500. As a reminder, the ecological bonus is only available for cars sold for less than €47,000. The “coupe” SUV is therefore not eligible, but more versions of the ID.4 can have access to it. The ID.4 Pro 286 Life Max from 2024, for example, starts at €46,990, or €8,260 less than the ID.4 Pro Performance Life Plus from 2023. It also benefits from more equipment. complete, bringing the customer benefit to €11,370, without even counting access to the ecological bonus.

ID.7: the large sedan moves away from premiums

Large sedans are becoming less and less popular, particularly among mainstream manufacturers. So when Volkswagen announced high prices for its ID.7, not so far from its premium rivals, there was no doubt that it would not succeed in attracting a large audience.

For 2024, the ID.7 range has been simplified. Volkswagen has only retained one trim level: the ID.7 Pro 286 Life Max. It is sold from €59,990 and adds standard metallic paint to the old Style Exclusive finish. The customer benefit thus reaches €8,900. This brings the ID.7 closer to the prices of the Hyundai Ioniq 6, sold from €57,750. Volkswagen’s electric sedan, however, remains very far from the prices of the Tesla Model 3, starting at €42,990, which is certainly smaller but compared to which the ID.7 struggles to justify its additional cost.

Please note that long-term rental (LLD) offers have also been updated to reflect these price reductions. The ID electric van. Buzz, sold from €59,450, is the only model in the ID range. not to see its prices decrease.
