Big Pyhrgas – ski tourer slid 300 meters down a steep slope

Because his bindings came undone, a ski tourer slipped 300 meters down a steep slope on the Großer Pyhrgas. The injured were rescued by rescue helicopter.

On Saturday, a 38-year-old from the Eferding district went on a ski tour to the 2,255-meter-high Großer Pyhrgas in the Spital am Pyhrn municipality. As a descent, he chose the route over the steep south-west face. Already in the upper part of the descent, the ski mountaineer’s bindings were probably broken, whereupon he slipped about 300 meters in the very steep terrain.Recovered by helicopterSince he was injured and therefore unable to continue the descent, he dialed the emergency call. The mountain rescue Spital am Pyhrn and the emergency doctor helicopter “Christophorus 14” moved to the scene of the accident. The emergency helicopter brought the injured person to the Kirchdorf Clinic by means of dew rescue.
