Big surprise at the Cannes Film Festival! Topless activist bursts in while climbing stairs

The Cannes Film Festival was disrupted by a protester this Friday, May 20. The young woman landed half-naked on the red carpet.

For the past few days, the biggest stars have been parading on the red carpet of the Croisette on the occasion of the Cannes Film Festival. To inaugurate the event, it was Tom Cruise who made a very remarkable appearance. After several years of absence, the actor landed in a helicopter on the occasion of the release of Top Gun: Maverick. Subsequently, big names including Julia Roberts or Anne Hathaway were present. This Friday, May 20, the rise of the steps has been disturbed by a woman who broke in around 6 p.m. As shown in the video, posted on the France 3 Côte d’Azur Twitter account, she was topless but had paint in the colors of the flag of Ukraine. She was wearing white panties that were smeared with red paint. Faced with the personalities present on the carpet at that time, she started running in all directions and shouting in front of the photographers. “Stop raping us“, she had written on her body.

The young woman was quickly arrested by Cannes Film Festival security, who covered her with a coat before evacuating her. The action was claimed by the SCUM, a movement of feminist and radical activists who, on social networks, explained the purpose of this interruption. “To denounce the sexual violence inflicted on Ukrainian women in the context of the war“, can we read. A message that refers to the current situation in Ukraine as the war continues. Contacted by the media, the young woman, who would be 18 years old, explained her gesture: “We decided this evening to denounce the rapes of war, the procuring of war. We talk about rapes, GPA, we are used as belly on legs… We think that nobody talks about women. Everyone needs to know. We show”, she said before adding that other similar actions have already taken place.

Unexpected on stage: which personality wanted to send a message?

On March 12, 2021, the Cesar 2021 ceremony took place and it was marked by the passage of Corinne Masiero. While the Covid-19 pandemic was still very present in the daily life of the French, restrictions were put in place and these were not to everyone’s taste. On stage, the actress did not hesitate to literally bare herself in order to defend culture and support the intermittents du spectacle, deprived of exercising for more than a year. A message that had been very noticed but also commented on. “I’m glad I did“, said Corinne Masiero.
