Alain Chabat has a surprise for you! 21 and a half years after its initial release (and its 14.4 million admissions!), its Asterix will be released everywhere in France, at the single price of 5 euros, and in a fully restored version, on July 5, 2023.
For the occasion, Alain Chabat has concocted a completely new trailer, and very funny! “Bigger, more beautiful, louder… Thanks to Ciné Boost and its magic lotion, even sound is more powerful, enveloping, breathtaking.”
To make you want to go to the cinema, he imagined a trailer like an 80s laundry ad! “But today, everything has changed thanks to Ciné Boost, the latest from 4k labs. Thanks to Ciné Boost, my film has regained all its freshness.“
In the press release accompanying this release, Pathé states: “This film is one of the first in France to have been shot in 35mm and post-produced in digital. To obtain the best possible quality, Pathé has chosen to start from the original unmounted negatives, spread over nearly 300 reels of film. Which is equivalent to redoing, not a “simple” restoration, but the entire post-production of the film, 20 years later.
This exceptional work has combined traditional film restoration techniques and Artificial Intelligence to improve the definition of certain period effects and give the image even more brilliance and precision.
“Asterix & Obelix, Mission Cleopatra” is the first restored French heritage film to be presented in Dolby Cinema: the sound was mixed in Dolby Atmos (immersive sound) and the image calibrated in Dolby Cinema for equipped cinemas and Dolby Vision for TV screens.
