Biker in hospital – accidents, injuries, traffic jams, lock: chaos on A2

Accidents on Sunday evening on the southern autobahn (A2) in the direction of Vienna have claimed several injuries. Blockades and traffic jams were the result. According to the ÖAMTC, four vehicles were involved in an accident near Seebenstein (Neunkirchen district). There was also an accident and a block on the Westautobahn (A1) on Sunday evening.

Ten people were injured, none of them seriously, said a spokesman for the APA. A Viennese motorcyclist was flown to the hospital by an emergency helicopter after a fall near Vösendorf (Mödling district). The vehicle overturned around 8:30 p.m. at kilometer 140 for reasons that are still unclear, came to rest across the road and caught fire. Both lanes and the hard shoulder were blocked. The two occupants, an approximately 50-year-old man and a woman of unknown age, were brought to the Amstetten State Hospital with injuries. According to the Lower Austria emergency call, two rescue vehicles, a rescue helicopter and an emergency doctor’s vehicle were involved in the rescue operation. The Haag and St. Valentin fire brigades were called to fight the fire, and the Amstetten fire brigade also supplied a crane to rescue the van that was involved in the accident.
