Bill and Melinda Gates are getting divorced. The Microsoft co-founder has now transferred shares worth billions to his wife.

Last Monday (May 3), Bill (65) and Melinda Gates (56) via Twitter notified to divorce after 27 years. Since the couple is not supposed to have a prenuptial agreement, the assets are allegedly divided based on a separation agreement. As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is said to have transferred shares worth almost 2.4 billion US dollars (about two billion euros) to his still-wife on Monday.

Accordingly, Bill and Melinda Gates now share shares in a Coca-Cola bottler, a Mexican broadcaster and other companies. According to the Wall Street Journal, the stock transfers were published in the securities filings on Tuesday and Wednesday. According to previous reports the transfer was only $ 1.8 billion in securities.

According to the divorce papers, which are available to the “People” magazine, among others, the couple is due to appear for the court appointment in April 2022. In their joint statement on the divorce, the two stated that they wanted to continue their organization “Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation” despite their separation. Bill and Melinda Gates were married in 1994 and they have three children together: son Rory (21) and their daughters Phoebe (18) and Jennifer (25).
