Billie Eilish was diagnosed with Tourette’s Syndrome when she was 11. How is the singer doing with her illness?

Billie Eilish (20) has spoken publicly about her everyday life with Tourette’s syndrome. In the US Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” by David Letterman (75), the singer explained how “incredibly confusing” the disease was for her.

She was diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome when she was 11 years old. Even as a child, she had “little” tics, reports Eilish. The reaction of the people around her, who often laughed “because they think I’m trying to be funny”, was particularly difficult for her. The musician was then “always incredibly offended”.

Although her tics are hardly noticeable, she continued to explain on the show: “There are things that you would never notice if you just talk to me, but they are very exhausting for me.”

Not the only star with Tourette Syndrome

Meanwhile, Eilish has “made friends” with the disease: “It’s not that I like it, but I feel like it’s part of me.” The singer therefore also knows other artists who suffer from Tourette syndrome and have spoken to her about it. She doesn’t want to come out with this, “but it was actually always very interesting for me”.

It’s not the first time Billie Eilish has spoken out about her illness. 2019 has them explained on the talk show by Ellen DeGeneres (64).that she didn’t go public with it for a long time because she didn’t want to be known as “the artist with Tourette”.
