(Boursier.com) — BIO-UV Groupspecialist in water treatment and disinfection systems using UV, ozone, salt electrolysis and AOP, announces that the ship MSC Caledonia II, formerly known as Caledonia, has been equipped with a BIO ballast water treatment system -SEA as part of the first turnkey retrofit project (renovation project) carried out by the maritime division of BIO-UV Group.

With a tonnage (DWT) of approximately 35,000 tons, the container ship was equipped with a BIO-SEA B03-0450 FX modular system. The operations were carried out in Port Khalid, Sharjah (United Arab Emirates), just before its sale to the shipowner Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC).

Since the end of 2021, BIO-SEA by BIO-UV Group has expanded its turnkey offer for the installation on existing ships (retrofit) of ballast water treatment systems, by offering 3D laser scanning in addition to its engineering and design services.

“This new service offer has played a fundamental role in the realization in record time of this particularly time-sensitive project”, declared Florian Cortes, Technical Director of BIO-SEA. “The time required for the engineering, construction of the system, its final installation and commissioning was very short due to the schedule of the vessel. But the pre-installation engineering work allowed the customer to pre-fabricate the piping elements, thus significantly reducing the installation and dry-docking time of the vessel”.
