DECRYPTION – Ecological and sovereign, it has begun a promising development.
While the government wants to further accelerate the energy transition and is preparing the roadmap for the new multi-annual energy program (PPE), gas players are sounding the alarm. “The period is very electric, while gas has its place in the French energy mix”, emphasizes Laurence Poirier-Dietz, CEO of GRDF, emphasizing the ability of gas companies to establish themselves as players in the energy transition.
RTE, in its “Energy Futures 2050” report, does not say anything else. The manager of the high-voltage network certainly places electricity at the top of the mix with 55% of French energy consumption, but the balance comes from other renewable energies, and at least 10% from carbon-free gas.
Network already in place
“At the end of last year, the country had a production capacity of this gas of 9 TWh, against a target set at 6 TWh. It is the only renewable ahead of the French objectives”, notes Thierry Found…
