Dn the biological and medical fields, the contribution is both quantitative (processing phenomenal amounts of data in record time) and qualitative (seeing things that were not discernible). The power of AI was further illustrated by a study published in March in Science : using machine learning, researchers at the New York Meta AI laboratory have been able to predict the structure of hundreds of millions of proteins – this three-dimensional structure depends on the sequence of their elementary constituents, the amino acids, and their interactions. The sequence of the latter is itself determined by that of the DNA of the genes coding for these proteins. If we know this sequence – the order of the ATCG bases -, we can deduce that of the acids…
