Industry on OCS: what is this sexy and biting series on the world of finance worth?

Deadline was unable to obtain confirmation or comment from the studio producing this film, titled Back To Black. Marisa Abela would in any case be the number one choice to play the singer who died tragically in 2011.

According to their sources, she had auditions in June, including trials for which she had to sing. The tests would have totally amazed the producers. Also according to Deadline, many other actresses have passed trials.

As we indicated 15 days ago, the film will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, to whom we owe Nowhere Boy and Fifty Shades of Gray on a screenplay by Matt Greenhalgh.

The film should trace the life of the interpreter of Rehab and Back to Black who began singing in jazz clubs in north London before becoming a music superstar rewarded with 6 Grammy Awards. She died on July 23, 2011, at the age of 27, from an overdose of alcohol and drugs.

After her death, Hollywood quickly attempted to tell her story, and several projects, including one with Noomi Rapace in the lead role, were announced, but none came to fruition. In 2015, the documentary Amy by Asif Kapadia, retracing the life of the icon, won the Oscar for best documentary.

Note that Back To Black is made with the support of Amy Winehouse’s family.

As for Marisa Abela, she is currently playing Rogue Agent in the United Kingdom, and on August 12 in the United States in a limited release. This film is still unreleased in France, and without a release date.
