BioWare: Mac Walters, veteran of the Mass Effect series, leaves the studio

BioWare has been affected by many departures this year, with a few veterans who have decided to return to work on the next Mass Effect. But the studio today loses one of its greatest representatives in the person of McWaltersone of the most famous members of BioWare since he is one of the leading figures of the license Mass Effect. After 19 years of loyal service, Walters has announced his departure on LinkedIn (relayed by Eurogamer).

The adventure ends here for one of the big names in the studio

For those who do not know the man, Mac Walters will have been one of the main screenwriters of the saga Mass Effect, especially on the second and third episode. He then worked as creative director on Mass Effect Andromedaas well as as project director on Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, where he will have been the spokesperson for the studio to sell the trilogy well. Until his departure announced today, he was also working on the production of Dragon Age Dreadwolfthe next headline from the studio.

His departure is simply motivated by the desire to experiment with new things, after having spent almost two decades at BioWare:

As some of you already know, at the end of last year I decided to leave BioWare. The past 19 years have been a life-changing experience to say the least, and it has made this last choice very difficult to make. I’ve worked with so many great people and had the privilege of being part of the most amazing teams and projects. It’s hard to put it all together, and I know I’ll be thinking about it for years to come. Thank you to everyone I’ve had the pleasure of working with, and I wish everyone at BioWare the best in all that you do. It was really a pleasure. ยป

Walters has yet to indicate in which direction he will pursue his career. We can therefore only wish him good luck for the rest of his projects.
