Bird flew into window: This is the best way to help the animal now

Bird flew against window
This is how you can help the animal – even if it is no longer moving

Window panes are often a real danger for birds.

When a bird flies against a window pane, we are often startled by the bang. For the animal itself, however, such an impact does not have to mean immediate death: you can still help it, even if it stops moving at first.

According to the Nature Conservation Union, around 100 million birds die every year after flying into a window pane. It often ends with a loud noise – and where larger animals seem to be able to cope with the impact unscathed, we often find small birds lying on the ground. Birds do not see the obstacle in glasses and window panes, they only see the landscape reflected in them.

Panes that are completely transparent, reflect their surroundings or are illuminated from the inside at night are particularly dangerous. Especially in the dark, the animals are attracted to the light and cannot recognize the window pane as such, according to NABU. After the fall, many animals lie motionless on the ground – and are therefore considered dead by us. Sometimes you can even help them with that. You can see how you can do this in the video.
