Bird got stuck – fire brigade lifts owl out of abandoned bunker

Firefighters in Niederneukirchen (Upper Austria) had to rescue not a funny guy, but a real one from an unfortunate situation. The poor animal was stuck in a shaft of an abandoned bunker. The fire department had to arrive and use heavy equipment.

The bird was discovered by some young people who heard strange noises coming from the abandoned bunker. They discovered a ventilation shaft in which, as it later turned out, the owl had fallen. The hole was dug. The fire department first tried to free the bird from a depth of three and a half meters with a long pole – but without success. Together with the landowner, they finally decided to dig a hole into the shaft at the level of the animal. It took an hour and a half of digging before the hole was finally finished and the frightened owl could be rescued from an awkward situation. The animal is now being cared for. The rescued bird was then handed over to the Upper Austria Animal Rescue, where he receives the necessary care and support. According to animal rescue, the animal would have met a painful end in the shaft without the discovery and the quick action of those involved.
