Birds of Prey: The Emancipation of Harley Quinn: Margot Robbie as a shrill bird of prey

Women to power! On average, DC's comic book films do not get by far as well with viewers and critics as those from Marvel. For this, Warner's film studio is committed to having donated its own film with "Wonder Woman" (2017), the first female heroine – we deliberately remain silent about the inglorious "Catwoman" craft. And the first completely female (anti- ) Hero troupe goes to the DC account thanks to "Birds of Prey: The Emancipation of Harley Quinn". You can find out everything you need to know about the motley, dark film that opens in Germany on February 6th.

Why is?

When Gotham's vicious, narcissistic criminal Roman Sionis (Ewan McGregor, 48) and his busy right hand Zsasz target a young girl named Cass, the city is on the lookout for her head. However, because a certain Bruce Wayne alias Batman has since disappeared and no one else in the world feels called to help Cass, this task is assigned to an unusual group of birds of prey.

The paths of Harley (Margot Robbie, 29), Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead, 35), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell, 33) and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez, 55) cross, and the unusual quartet has no choice than to band together to overthrow Roman.

Woman power and a rogue change

"Birds of Prey" is not the only place where female power is in front of the camera. The script was written by Christina Hodson, directed by Hollywood newcomer Cathy Yan. Leading actress Robbie also acts as a producer.

Meanwhile, the role of the male villain was changed. According to reports, Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot alias should have been the penguin of the opponents. But because he was soon chosen as Robert Pattinson's (33) adversary in "The Batman", the decision was made and Ewan McGregor became Roman Sionis (Black Mask). Colin Farrell (43) will mime the penguin in "The Batman".

The Suicide Squad thing

"Birds of Prey" is supposed to be independent of the moderate "Suicide Squad" (2016). Right at the beginning of the film there is still a reference to the film by David Ayer (52). In fact, Yan even uses material from the previous strip, which Robbie's character Harley Quinn shows again as she comes into contact with a dangerous ACE chemical. Fortunately, "Suicide Squad" does not have to be made up to get started with the "Birds of Prey".
