Bitcoin, a “drift corpse” according to the future head of the Chinese central bank

Primary anti-bitcoinism. The planet’s central bankers are very binary: they hate Bitcoin (BTC) and decentralized cryptos, and they love their own central bank digital currency (MNBC). This is particularly true in Chinawhere the future governor of the Chinese central bank, Pan Gongshenghas repeatedly demonstrated its utter disdain for Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is already dead, but we don’t know it yet?

The game of musical chairs will soon begin again for the post of governor of the People’s Bank of China (PBoC). In effect, Yi Gangthe current governor – who recently proudly boasted the numbers of his MNBC, the digital yuan (e-CNY) – should soon leave its place.

So, Pan Gongsheng is tipped for the replace head of China’s central bank. The latter has already been appointed as Secretary of the Communist Party to the PBoC at the beginning of this month of July 2023. The problem? This is what he said about Bitcoin in 2017:

“Sit by the river, watch, and one day the corpse of Bitcoin will float before you. »

Has the future governor of the Chinese central bank calmed down?

As DL News notably reminds us, Pan Gongsheng is an economist who trained in West. He has notably studied and worked in the prestigious universities of Harvard and of Cambridge.

And Pan Gongsheng is already the deputy governor of the People’s Bank of China since April 2016. If he will most certainly be at the bedside of their precious MNBC – to possibly officially institute the digital yuan under his tenure -, however, we do not know what fate it will be reserved for decentralized cryptocurrencies.

Indeed, the banker has not made any more recent statements about Bitcoin or its ilk. Does he still hate them so cordially? Anyway, things have much changed since 2017. Today it is mainly the UNITED STATES of Joe Biden and the Securities and Exchange Commission (DRY) who violently fight against crypto-assets. Conversely, in China, Hong Kong presents itself as a gateway to the cryptosphere.
