Two men lodged a complaint after being victims of stings in night establishments in Périgueux (Dordogne). An investigation was opened for “administration of harmful substances”.
The facts occurred on April 9. Aged 18 and 24, the two men were bitten in a night establishment, but they did not realize it. It was only after the evening that they felt very tired, and that they discovered on their body a trace of sting. It was located at the level of the abdomen for one, and the thigh for the other.
The two victims immediately filed a complaint. No trace of narcotics was found during the first toxicological analyses.
Similar facts in Grenoble, Nantes…
These cases are not isolated. Several syringe attacks in nightclubs have been reported in recent days, particularly in Grenoble (Isère), Béziers (Hérault) and Nantes (Loire-Atlantique). Four complaints were also filed after similar events at the Printemps festival in Bourges (Cher), which took place from April 19 to 24.
Each time, the victims evoke nausea, malaise or loss of balance. “I had my legs cut off, I fell and I don’t know how I managed to sit on the edge of the sidewalk,” testified a young woman stung without her knowledge at the microphone of CNEWS. “From there, I could hear what was going on around me, but I couldn’t see, and I couldn’t speak.”
No cases of theft or sexual assault have been reported after these stings. No one has been arrested so far. The authorities recommend that victims report to a hospital quickly, because certain substances such as GHB (nicknamed “rape drug”) are no longer detectable by the analyzes in just a few hours.
