Bitten by a fish on her honeymoon, she still pays for it weeks later

Amy Thomson’s honeymoon turned into a nightmare because of the words of a man…

A very bad wedding present. Amy Thomson, 27, left with her husband Callum Thomson, 37, on their honeymoon in Mauritius. But instead of coming back with enchanted memories and stars full of heads, it’s an unimaginable pain that she brought back with her – and that lasts. Nearly two months after her return from the island, the young bride is still suffering martyrdom. But what could have caused such strong pain in such a heavenly setting? It all started with a short snorkelling excursion aimed at exploring the seabed simply equipped with a snorkel mask and possibly flippers. When she wanted to go cool off in the water after a meal on the beach, Amy was ready to put on her water shoes when the man who organized the excursion told him “No no, you don’t need that here”.

Seeing nothing but sand on the floor, Amy decided to listen…and got stung seconds after stepping into the water. “JI immediately came back to the beach and honestly at that moment I had never felt such pain. I looked at my foot and it had already swelled up, it was twice its usual size, and my sole was all blue and white.”. This is stonefish venom, reputed to be the most poisonous fish in the world, which caused such pain in the young bride. In some cases, its bites can cause death. On her return to the hotel, Amy Thomson was quickly examined by a doctor before being sent directly to the hospital.

Two months later, the pain is still there

Despite treatments that cost him more than 2000 euros – including morphine, anti-venom and an incision to evacuate the venom from the bite – Amy is still in great pain from her injury. After spending the rest of her honeymoon by the pool with her foot bandaged and immobilized, the bride and her husband returned to England where, eight weeks after the incident, Amy is still in severe pain. In addition to antibiotic treatment, the young woman has also decided to return to the hospital, in particular because her toe is still oozing… All because of an ill-advised man who advised him not to wear his water shoes when they could have saved him a lot of trouble.
