Not only consumers are concerned about record inflation and a possible gas crisis in winter. MediaMarkt is also trying to prepare for emergencies with an emergency plan. For customers, this means one thing above all: it will be more expensive. The price battle should be over for the time being, especially in two product categories.
Most recently, inflation was 7.5 percent in Germany. A slight decline, which according to the Federal Statistical Office was due in particular to the tank discount and 9-euro ticket, but still far from the actual target: 2 percent. Consumers are taking the consequences and keeping their money together. Electronics retailers like MediaMarkt and Saturn are feeling the effects.

The Düsseldorf group Ceconomy, to which both MediaMarkt and Saturn belong, sees difficult times ahead and works with four teams on an emergency plan. “We have to secure our margins in Germany, where the crisis is particularly biting,” said Ceconomy boss Karsten Wildberger when presenting the business figures (source: Welt).
In order to achieve this goal, MediaMarkt and Saturn customers must be comfortable permanently adjust to higher prices. This is especially true for mobile phones and TV sets. The times when Mobile phones and televisions have dropped significantly in price just a few weeks after they went on sale should be over, at least for the time being.
However, the MediaMarkt parent has high hopes for sales of economical kitchen appliances and washing machines. Rising energy prices are expected to tempt consumers to make purchases here.
