Bitwala is now called Nuri

Bitwala is now called Nuri. With the rebranding, the Berlin start-up wants to expand its customer base.

“A new name, a new reality” is the headline of the first press release that Nuri published under a new name for the first time. The company, which was previously known as Bitwala in the German FinTech and crypto scene, is not only changing its name with the rebranding, but also wants to break new ground. The former Bitwala app shines in new splendor under Nuri – both on the PC and on the smartphone. But not only superficially, a lot has changed at the Berlin start-up, which has been on the market since 2015. There is also news to report under the hood at FinTech, which has had a new top management since April 8th.

Buying, selling and saving Bitcoin and Co. should become much easier in the future. With this, Nuri is following the path that the Kristina Walcker-Mayer personality has been showing for a long time. Nuri wants to get away from the crypto image of quick profits. Instead of trading, the focus should now be on long-term saving.

Is the Bitcoin savings plan coming soon at Nuri?

In an exclusive interview with BTC-ECHO, the CEO explains that earning interest is now part of Nuri’s product range:

Customers don’t have to do anything other than buy Bitcoin and deposit it into an income account, where income is generated. At its core, it’s a centralized answer to the DeFi trends you see these days.

A Bitcoin savings plan is not yet part of the Nuri rebranding, but they are “working on it”, said Walcker-Mayer in an interview. You can read the entire interview in the May issue of Kryptokompass.

So far, however, the rebranding has not resulted in any new functions. To this Walcker-Mayer:

Our new Nuri brand and the revised customer experience form the basis for many more innovative products and functions that we will offer our customers in the months and years to come.

Founded in October 2015 by Jörg von Minckwitz, Jan Goslicki, and Benjamin P. Jones (the latter is now Chairman of the Board) as Bitwala, Nuri is probably the most successful crypto FinTech in Germany with a customer base of 250,000 people.
