Finally, DC is closing with a regulation that has massively affected both the films and series. “Black Adam” and “Superman & Lois” prove that.

- Until now, DC had a rule that films and series were not allowed to show the same characters at the same time.
- As a result, Amanda Waller was summarily killed in Arrow so she could appear in Suicide Squad.
- As “Black Adam” and “Superman & Lois” now confirm, the regulation has finally ended.
In October 2022, the new DC blockbuster “Black Adam” will start in German cinemas and will introduce the evil organization Intergang alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s antihero Black Adam. The appearance of the Intergang shows that DC is finally dropping a stupid rule.
Because parallel to the appearance of the Intergang in “Black Adam”, another version of the Intergang is introduced in “Superman & Lois”. DC has had various movies and series set in different universes for years. However, there was always the rule that the same characters were not allowed to appear in TV and cinema at the same time.
Amanda Waller (Cynthia Addai-Robinson) was killed in Arrow to make room for the theatrical version (Viola Davis) in Suicide Squad. Bruce Wayne was also never able to appear in “Smallville” in physical form, since Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” films were running in parallel with the series.
With the series “The Flash” and Ezra Miller’s The Flash in the cinemas as well as the theatrical release of “Superman Returns” parallel to “Smallville”, there are few exceptions, but actually DC always tried to ensure that viewers were not unnecessarily presented with different versions to confuse the same characters. It’s over now, and that’s a good thing!
This regulation massively hampered the creativity of film and series creators and comic stories could not be accurately implemented, much to the displeasure of fans. With the intergang in both “Black Adam” and “Superman & Lois” the spook has now come to an end!
“Superman & Lois” season 3 is expected to start in spring 2023. “Black Adam” will be released in US cinemas on October 21, 2022. In Germany, the film will start in cinemas a day or two beforehand.
