Black Friday: This is how much you can really save at the mega shopping event

There are now three major shopping events in Germany – actually four. In June, Amazon usually holds its first Prime Day, which is exclusively available to Amazon Prime customers. Since 2022 there has even been another Prime Day in October, so the sale is apparently worth it. Maybe the mail order company also wants to get ahead of Singles Day and Black Friday.

On November 11th, singles around the world will celebrate another bargain day. Even though Singles Day is still largely unknown in Germany, worldwide it is bigger than Black Friday and Cyber ​​Monday combined. Many German online shops take part in Singles Day and sometimes you can expect really good deals.

The highlight, which used to be either summer or winter sales, is now Black Friday. There are already many Black Week offers the week before, which continue after Black Friday over the Black Weekend and finally end on Monday with Cyber ​​Monday.

The time around Black Friday is also the only time when stationary retailers also offer special Black Friday deals. This doesn’t happen on Prime Day or Singles Day. If you belong to Germany’s bargain group – like us – then you should keep an eye on your desired product, especially at one of the big sales.

Amazon Prime Day

On Prime Day you can buy Amazon-owned devices at the cheapest prices. Whether Fire TV Stick, Echo speakers or Fire tablets – all of these are significantly reduced.

In some cases, Amazon offers the same special prices on Black Friday as on Prime Day, but the products are usually not cheaper. You can therefore access it on Prime Day without hesitation. According to the comparison portalbilliger.de, the average savings is around 27 percent, especially in the gaming sector you can expect high discounts in addition to Amazon products.

However, as the name suggests, Prime Day is only reserved for paying Amazon members who pay 8.99 euros per month. If you’ve never been a Prime customer before, you can simply secure a 30-day trial membership before Prime Day, which is free.

If you have already tested Prime, this is usually not possible. If you don’t want to get Prime access, you’re better off on Black Friday and Singles Day. The offers apply to everyone. In the following articles we take a look at this year’s offers.

Black Friday

Black Friday, Cyber ​​Monday and Cyber ​​Week: According to a price study by idealo, the average savings in the 100 most popular categories in 2022 were only six percent, but two thirds of the products examined were cheaper than in the previous month of October.

The average savings potential was around 348 euros for e-bikes, 187 euros for televisions, 78 euros for notebooks and 150 euros for system cameras. Compared to the rest of the year, the variety on offer is also significantly greater. Because trips, flights, etc. are also cheaper.

Due to the overall rising prices (an average of 5 percent for two thirds of the products) and the still high inflation rate, the final sale prices this year are unlikely to reach their all-time low. The costs have increased the most for televisions, sneakers, Playmobil, speakers and headphones. However, electric toothbrushes, e-scooters and outdoor jackets have become cheaper.

This year, Black Friday falls on November 24th, but the hot offer period for many retailers begins on November 13th and ends with Cyber ​​Monday on November 28th.

Tip: The best offers are usually on Black Friday itself. Although you can also get good deals during Cyber ​​or Black Week beforehand and on Cyber ​​Monday afterwards, the highlights are usually on Friday.

Singles Day

In Germany, Singles Day on November 11th is even less well known, but every year more retailers take part in the bargain day. Did you know that Singles Day is the biggest shopping day of the year worldwide? That’s it and it’s even before Black Friday and Cyber ​​Monday.

Last year, well-known German retailers such as Media Markt, Saturn and eBay got involved. The offers were good and some were even cheaper than on Black Friday. However, the average savings from Singles Day in Germany is not known.

There is no price guarantee

Black Friday is the best time for all kinds of technology purchases, unless it’s hardware from Amazon. However, it may also be the case that you buy one or two products cheaper on Prime Day or Singles Day. The latter is even less common in Germany, so the number of dealers is manageable. Nevertheless, there are also good offers on Singles Day.

Our advice: If you discover an offer whose price is significantly lower than the regular retail price, grab it. There is no guarantee that you will buy the product you want cheaper on Black Friday, and attractive deals often sell out in no time.
