- The theatrical release of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” is just around the corner.
- Unlike other Marvel films, you can leave the cinema early because there is no scene after the credits.
- An alleged scene with Dr. Doom was also never planned, as producer Nate Moore confirms.
In the past, scenes in or after the credits were a pleasant surprise, but in the case of the films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this bonus is now actually an integral part of the overall package. These short scenes are occasionally used for small jokes, but often exciting cliffhangers also point to important future events.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever breaks with that tradition, but not as the first Marvel film. Even “Avengers: Endgame” got by without credits scenes to make it clear that an important section in the MCU was just ending.
With “Black Panther 2” it was probably due to the death of leading actor Chadwick Boseman that the film should not serve as a launch pad for future stories after the credits, instead the credits should slowly release the audience back into reality.
By the way, “Wakanda Forever” is said to have a short scene in the credits, but you shouldn’t expect cameos or big twists in it. Rumors suggesting a first appearance by Dr. Doom promised for the “Black Panther 2” credits have already been invalidated by producer Nate Moore in an interview with Collider.
I’ve heard those rumors too. No, I think the subject matter of the film didn’t make it feel appropriate to have a [Szene nach dem Abspann] to have. Much like “Endgame” felt like an emotional experience, it didn’t need one here either [Szene] at the end. We felt like we just wanted to tell the story the way it was designed, with no added bonus. Unfortunately, there is no end credits scene.
With a running time of almost 160 minutes, some viewers should also be grateful to be able to go straight to the toilet after the mid-credits scene and not have to wait any longer. “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” will be in German cinemas from November 9, 2022.
