"Black Panther" is no ordinary superhero movie. It's not just because of Chadwick Boseman, who will forever be King of Marvel.

The surprising death of Chadwick Boseman (1976-2020) not only shook Hollywood at the end of August. In 2018 he became a worldwide idol as the eponymous superhero in "Black Panther". That he was not only a superhero on screen became known only after his death. Boseman died at the age of 43 from complications from colon cancer that he had kept secret for four years. He embodied Wakanda's ruler T'Challa more than once. He was also seen in "Avengers: Infinity War" (2018) and "Avengers: Endgame" (2019).

In addition, a sequel was already planned. "Black Panther 2" is announced for May 2022. How the film will continue and what will happen to T'Challa is still unclear. The filmmakers take their time to make this decision. But there will probably not be a replacement for Boseman as T'Challa – on the other hand, fans were already storming the net shortly after Boseman's death. Anyone who wants to experience Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa (again) can watch the free TV premiere of "Black Panther" on ProSieben on December 6, 2020 (8:15 pm). What distinguishes the film?

This is what "Black Panther" is about

T'Challa aka Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) returns to his home in Wakanda. After the death of his father, he is to be crowned king as the rightful heir to the throne. He receives support from his mother Ramonda (Angela Bassett) and his sister Shuri (Letitia Wright), who are responsible for all technical innovations. But there's a lot of trouble ahead. An arms dealer (Andy Serkis) wants to get rich with Vibranium. Pressure is also increasing from within our own ranks. And when a guy named Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) shows up, a fight for the throne starts. Will T'Challa lose his land?

Strong women set the tone

"Black Panther" is no ordinary superhero film and no classic Marvel flick. It is a colorful spectacle that takes the viewer into a different culture. The technical innovations even make Tony Stark alias Iron Man look old. In addition, strong female figures are convincing. Whether as a technology genius or the best fighter in the country – the ladies from Wakanda are not to be trifled with. In addition, the threat in the film does not come from space or another galaxy, as in the usual superhero manner – it is human in the superhero cosmos. In addition, the cast consists almost entirely of black actors.

The strip is top-class. In addition to Chadwick Boseman, who made his first appearance in "The First Avenger: Civil War" (2016), the ensemble has familiar faces. Oscar winners Lupita Nyong'o (37) and Forest Whitaker (59) are there, as are Golden Globes winner Angela Bassett (62), Oscar nominee Daniel Kaluuya (31), "Creed" star Michael B. Jordan ( 33) and "The Walking Dead" actress Danai Gurira (42). "This Is Us" mime Sterling K. Brown (44) also shines in a supporting role. The cast is completed by the Tolkien film heroes Andy Serkis (56) and Martin Freeman (49).

It is human in the superhero cosmos

Not only the actors convince, but also the music. "Guardians of the Galaxy" (2014) already had cool songs to offer, but the soundtrack of "Black Panther" was none other than Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar (33, "Damn"). He has recruited support from his colleagues The Weeknd, Future and Travis Scott, among others. That sucks. As they say? The swag level is extremely high here.

"Black Panther" scores with cool music, unusual costumes, colorful sets and strong characters. Nobody fell on their mouths here – especially not the ladies – and Black Panther is not the only hero. Despite advanced technology and superpowers, everyone is vulnerable in this Marvel hit, including T'Challa himself. In addition, director Ryan Coogler (34, "Creed") does without big cameos, he lets his ensemble speak for themselves.

"Wakanda forever!"

"Black Panther" is an extraordinary, a very special superhero film. A highlight in terms of the cast. A breath of fresh air in the superhero cosmos. A film that stands for so much more than pure superhero action. Most importantly, it is the legacy of Chadwick Boseman. This film will last forever. In this sense: "Wakanda forever!"
