Black pepper: home remedy for gray veils in laundry

Household experts swear by this home remedy: Simply put a teaspoon of ground black pepper with your laundry in the laundry drum – and gray veils on your favorite clothes are no longer a problem. Why? The ground peppercorns act like a natural abrasive: They rub off soap residues from the laundry fibers and thus prevent clothes, blouses and pants from fading.

And the classic kitchen does this much more reliably than many color detergents. While these are trying to chemically tackle the yellow tinge and gray veil, the black pepper starts at the cause – the soap residue fixes the problem mechanically by friction. The prerequisite for this is that you wash your clothes at the lowest possible temperatures.
