Blackheads, microcysts: a dermatologist reveals the ideal routine to get rid of them: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

The skin is a living organ that has texture, despite what filters on social media try to make us believe. Blackheads are one of the most common marks on our faces, because everyone has them, and they are more or less visible from one person to another. “This is oxidized cellular debris in the pores“, as Dr Nina Roos, dermatologist, explained to us.

When the comedo is opened, the end then oxidizes and turns black, these are the famous blackheads. But sometimes, the comedo is closed and sebum accumulates under the skin, we then speak of a microcyst. But how to get rid of it? As we know, dermatologists often agree to advise against the use of anti-blackhead patches and that you should avoid piercing them yourself. On Instagram, Dr Dima Haidar, dermatologist who posts on his account @docteur_skin, shared a detailed routine to adopt at home to limit this phenomenon.

The anti-blackhead care routine to do at home

The first and most important thing is skin cleansing, morning and evening” the doctor begins. “But especially in the evening, once you have removed your makeup, with a cleanser that contains, for example, salicylic acid or zinc“, she continues. She then moves on to the ingredients to favor in her skincare products: “we use suitable assetssuch as AHAs, BHAs, niacinamide, azelaic acid or even retinoids and we hydrate the skin with a cream which has a rather fluid texture“, explains Dr Haidar.

A healthy lifestyle, an essential ally in the fight against blackheads and microcysts

However, even the best skincare routine cannot work miracles alone if you do not make adjustments in your daily life. “All this is of no use if you do not respect the rules of healthy living”, explains Dr Dima Haidar. It lists the main efforts to be made:

  • Avoid tobacco”because it is a major provider of microcysts” ;
  • Make sure you have a diet”balanced, varied, low in fast sugars, saturated fat, cow’s milk” ;
  • To have “sufficient sleep“,
  • Take charge of your anxiety;
  • And “above all, avoid exposure to the sun“.

She ends by recalling above all avoid “to burst your microcysts at home and specifies that it is possible to consult your dermatologist to start a suitable treatment.
