While season 9 of “The Blacklist” ended last Friday on NBC, two leading actors in the series announced that they would not be returning to season 10 next school year.
After the departure of Megan Boone, alias Elizabeth Keen, at the end of season 8, James Spader will once again bid farewell to two key characters from Blacklist. According to exclusive information from DeadlineAmir Arison, who has played Aram Mojtabi since the launch of the series, and Laura Sohn, who has played FBI agent Alina Park for 3 seasons, made their last appearance in the final episode of season 9 airing this Friday 27 May on NBC.
If Amir Arison leaves Blacklist to embark on a career on Broadway in the adaptation of the novel The kites of Kabul by Khaled Hosseini, he does not, however, close the door to appearances in season 10, which has already been commissioned by the American channel.
“I was so honored to play Aram Mojtabai for 9 years in Blacklist“, Amir Arison told Deadline. “I am aware of the chance that I had to have been able to work and evolve for 9 years with this cast, this team, these scriptwriters and these extraordinary producers.“
“However, I could not pass up the opportunity to fulfill a childhood dream, that of playing Amir in The Kites of Kabul on Broadway, with a breathtaking and contemporary stage adaptation..”
“The producers, the studio and the network have been very supportive of my decision, and Aram remains “alive”, with the possibility of a return. From the point of view of history, this departure fits perfectly with the events of the season, I could not have dreamed of better.”
Arison joined Blacklist as a recurring in Season 1 before being promoted to regular the following season. “Amir has been an essential member of the Blacklist family“said executive producer and showrunner John Eisendrath.
“He’s a great actor and an amazing person. We wish him well and hope he can reprise his role in some very special episodes next year.“
In the last minutes of episode 22 of season 9, Aram Mojtabi, after carrying out a final investigation, explains to his colleagues that they want to take time for him in order to “ride a bike, explore New York, eat lots of pizza, and maybe catch a show on Broadway.”
For her part, Alina Park, the character played by Laura Sohn who joined Blacklist during season 7 as a recurring before becoming a regular from the following season, announces that she is taking sick leave to take advantage of her pregnancy.
