In the last years of the 20th century, humanity set out to conquer space, fleeing the megalopolises which had become unhealthy. Starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Sean Young and Edward James Olmos, the cult film is among the best sci-fi feature films of all time and was selected in 1993 for inclusion in the US National Film Registry. States of the Library of Congress, being considered “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant”.
The first installment of the franchise, Blade Runner will inherit a sequel in 2017, Blade Runner 2049, directed by Denis Villeneuve. A trilogy of shorts spanning the 30 years between the two films and an animated series, titled Blade Runner: Black Lotus (2021) complete the hit saga.
