Blanca on M6: this phobia that the actress had to overcome to play in the series

To embody the character of Blanca in the eponymous series, currently broadcast on M6, the actress Maria Chiara Giannetta had to face many challenges.

The Italian detective series Blanca returns this Saturday evening on M6 for a new double episode which once again promises an investigation rich in twists and turns. Gabriele, the son of Marinella Fabbri, the journalist with whom Liguori is dating, is kidnapped while leaving the swimming pool.

The boy is held prisoner with Vittorio Pittaluga, the son of a wealthy fish supplier in the city. Very quickly, Liguori and Blanca understand that someone at the Pittalugas is informing the kidnappers. Marinella then publishes an article implicating Vittorio to force the police to speed up the investigation…

To embody the character of Blanca, her interpreter Maria Chiara Giannetta had to face many challenges during the filming of the series, in particular her panic fear of water.

I’m very afraid of water, and the most important thing in the series and for Blanca is water”, explained the actress during a press briefing. “I had to overcome my fear because we shot a lot with water”.

It must be said that many scenes in the series take place by the sea, the city of Genoa, where the series was shot, being known for its international port. “I am very happy to have overcome my phobia. I thank Blanca”, she added.

But if the actress managed to overcome her fears for the sake of filming, there is a scene in the water that she did not shoot. Remember: in episode 2, Blanca jumps into the sea from the top of a cliff. A dizzying fall that Maria Chiara Giannetta did not realize.

The actress indeed used a dubber to shoot this impressive scene. “The water was very cold, and in addition, the cliff was 7 meters high and the water was not very deep. So we called in a stuntwoman to jump safely into the water.
