Last year, the Spanish studio The Game Kitchen and the publisher Team17 launched Blasphemous 2 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store And GOG)a sequel to metroidvania hardcore inspired by the Catholic religion. In the process, PS4 and Xbox One versions have also been releasedit must be said that if the console of Nintendo can run it, there was no reason why the latter could not too. The news of the game in 2024 was quieter with only the release of a limited collector’s edition to delight fans, which after a delay finally arrived on July 19th. However, the game’s writer and creative and artistic director, Enrique Cabeza, had teased from April his next project before the studio took over this visual in video and gives us an appointment this fall, without further explanation… The players obviously understood that this was a DLC and it was only this Monday that deliverance came.
Mea Culpathis is the name of this paid extension of Blasphemous 2 which has just been dated for Thursday October 31, 2024 at the price of €11.99 with a 20% discount during the first two weeks. Its storyline will center on the lost sword of Penitent and it will feature an alternate ending, new bosses, areas, skills, quests and enemies. All players will benefit froma free update called True Torment on the same date, adding the long-awaited mode New Game+among others, since some environments will be expanded with a whole bunch of new features. - Extended areas – Choir of Thorns, Sunken Cathedral, and Basilica of Ancient Faces have all been reforged with new challenges to explore and conquer.
- New communicating areas – Faster traversal between already explored areas to allow you to make your way through the world faster than Sarmiento and Centella.
- A new challenge – The Labyrinth of Tides presents a new challenge for those willing to take it on.
- New Game+ – Fully adjustable difficulty options to improve your save from stronger enemies to deadlier spikes and lethal falls.
- New enemies – The people of Cvstodia rise up to face you, will you be up to their challenge?
- A multitude of improvements for the Penitent and the game as a whole, as well as new Achievements/Trophies.
Paid DLC Mea Culpa
- New areas (2) – Two new massive zones in which you can endure their violent winds and climb their dizzying heights.
- New bosses (2) – Take on some of the biggest challenges and face defeat head on in Mea Culpa.
- New Quests (4) – Assemble your sword and discover the power of Mea Culpa. Plus, meet new characters along the way.
- New NPCs – 4 new compatriots for your journey, will they accept their destiny or will you change them forever?
- New Alternate Ending – Face some of the fiercest challenges in Blasphemous II.
- As well as ways to increase the power of Mea Culpa, new prayers, rosary beads, figurines, and new Achievements/Trophies.
