On the day of the Blick retreat in Scuol GR, there was a vaccination postbus on the station square – clearly visible. In Baden AG, where I live, everyone at the cantonal hospital can be vaccinated – without prior notification. And on the way to the office yesterday I met the vaccination tram at the Bellevue in Zurich.
It is currently almost impossible not to come across a simple vaccination offer.
Nevertheless, the Federal Council is investing another 100 million francs in an anti-Covid offensive – including a national vaccination week in November. It is right and important that the state do everything to ensure that Switzerland increases its vaccination rate from around 60 percent, with which we are at the bottom in Western Europe, to 80 percent – the value at which a pandemic can be declared over.
The Swiss multi-billionaire Hansjörg Wyss (86) said in a Blick interview yesterday: “Every logically thinking person can be vaccinated!”
He is right: if there wasn’t a vaccination, we would probably all be locked down again and again. Syringes and certificates, on the other hand, show us the way back to normality. In restaurants and concerts, at parties and congresses, there is again a lively atmosphere – while loud protests against the Covid law rage on the streets and in the squares, which we will vote on on November 28th.
In order to continue the safe, well-organized everyday life and to travel abroad without complications, but also to protest to your heart’s content, Switzerland needs a yes on this day.
Every citizen should be for this law and thus for the Covid certificate out of self-interest. According to the latest Tamedia survey, this is also the case: 63 percent for, 35 percent against, only 2 percent undecided.
Perhaps that is also the reason why many proponents of the law believe they can win without making an effort: You don’t hear or see anything from them, hardly anyone puts money into the voting campaign – while the opponents are already a very loud, very broad, very Run a memorable campaign, have amassed money and be heard everywhere.
There is hardly anything more dangerous in referendums than betting on an easy victory. Too often it has happened that the silent majority stayed at home, but the loud minority mobilized perfectly and won!
If the Federal Council and the cantonal governments, if FDP, Mitte, SP, Greens, Green Liberals and EPP, if business associations and unions, if artists and sports clubs – if they are all for it: Then they should fight for it too!
