Blinded by the sun – Styrian pedestrian hit and killed by car

A 93-year-old Styrian pedestrian was hit by a car and killed on Sunday afternoon. An alcohol test for the driver involved in the accident was negative.

Shortly before 3:30 p.m., the 68-year-old driver of the vehicle overlooked the later accident victim in the Freßnitz area in the Upper Styrian district of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag while driving over a road crest due to the low sun and knocked down the 93-year-old. According to the police, the pedestrian died on the spot as a result of the collision. As the police reported on Sunday evening, the driver of the accident was not drunk. The Leoben public prosecutor’s office ordered an examination of the accident car and a forensic autopsy on the accident victim.
