Blink camera does not detect movement: That could be the problem

BLINK

If you don’t receive a motion report on your smartphone despite movement in front of your Blink camera, there could be various reasons for this. Here you will find a few suggested solutions.

Does your Blink camera not react to movements? Then this can have various causes. (Source: Amazon)

A surveillance camera is supposed to detect when someone is in its field of vision and send you a notification accordingly. This is also how Blink’s surveillance cameras work – normally. Sometimes the motion detection may not work as it should. This can have several reasons.

What you should generally rule out before you start troubleshooting your Blink camera are temporary problems with your software. To do this, restart both your smartphone on which the motion reports should be received and the camera (here it is enough to disconnect it from the power for a few seconds or, on battery-operated models, to hold down the power button for about 20 seconds) and let the devices boot up. Then test the motion detection.

If the motion detector does not start even after restarting both devices, you should first check the system for a software problem. Ensures that all smartphone, app and camera firmware updates are installed. Also check whether you have given the Blink app all the necessary permissions and whether notifications have been activated and allowed in the Android settings. Make improvements if this is not the case.

Then check directly in the Blink app whether the motion detection is activated at all – the little man symbol in the camera settings should be marked blue. Tap on it if that’s not the case. Snooze mode must also be turned off to receive notifications. You can also tell by whether the corresponding symbol is marked blue or gray.

If you have ruled out problems with the Blink app by logging out and logging in again and reinstalling the app and the error still persists, check the hardware. Is the motion sensor underneath the camera dirty, covered or otherwise obstructed? If so, remove the source of interference.

If the device looks flawless on the outside, there may be a deeper defect. If your error cannot be resolved even after a factory reset, contact support for further help or a replacement device.
