Blizzard Entertainment reveals one of its current projects: a survival game!

In the category of improbable events at the start of the year, Blizzard Entertainment sets the bar quite high. After the acquisition of Activision Blizzard King by Microsoft, it is now the studio behind the Warcraft, StarCraft and Diablo licenses in particular. to unveil one of their projects: a survival game!

It is in fact in an announcement as a job offer (s) that the American studio has announced to work on “an all-new universe where an all-new survival game will take place on PC and consoles“. You read correctly, on “PC and consoles”, enough to imagine of course a supposed Xbox exclusivity as the fantasies of many players (and not only) since the recent announcements in connection with Microsoft.

Apart from two very little evocative concept arts, we don’t know much more to date! However, the reactions are already strong from the side of the Blizzard gaming community: some are extremely enthusiastic about the idea of a whole new universe in a genre never before exploited by the studio, others are dragging their feet and rightly regret that this survival game does not take place in an already known universe, in particular that of StarCraft, a license sorely lacking in interest since the deployment of the Legacy of the Void extension.

However, it is easily understandable that Blizzard seeks to emancipate itself a little bit from the licenses that have made the studio what it is today. In an era where players are getting tired and expecting something new, Blizzard is responding with something completely new. The idea is not bad in itself, although we hope that this is not to the detriment of other licenses which also deserve to find themselves again in the spotlight.

From Blizzard’s side, “even the most disgruntled employees rave about this game and this team” said the famous journalist Jason Schreier (Bloomberg) in response to this announcement. A rather promising revelation in itself!

Anyway, let’s be positive! It is still very early to have any opinion on this new license. Development is a priori in progress and we will probably have to wait several years before we can immerse ourselves in this universe and form a real opinion. Patience!
