Blizzard is bringing companions back to Battlegrounds

[ad_1]

It’s been a while since they left the tavern. With patch 29.6, companions arrive again in Hearthstone to support duos on Battlegrounds. Each hero can thus count on his ally, but also the creature that accompanies him. And as if that wasn’t enough, heroes and servants are being balanced to adapt to these new features.

The brave companions of Battlegrounds

No change in how companions work for this new adventure on Battlegrounds. Each hero has a second heroic power that allows it to be used. The companion button’s starting cost is based on its tavern level. Each victory and draw reduces this cost by 3 gold coins, and each defeat by 2. The first use gives access to a copy of the companion. The second use allows you to obtain the two remaining copies.

In the meantime, no less than 12 new companions are making their debut. And yes, the heroes who have arrived in the meantime must have the right to their servant. For others, some modifications are necessary.

  • Captain Larrrdeur – Gold Captain [niveau 5, Pirate]
    • 3/6. After purchasing a Pirate, gain +1/+1 and add a Pirate to the tavern
  • Inge, the hymn to steel – Solemn serenade [niveau 3, Mort-vivant]
    • 4/3. Once you use your Heroic Power on a minion, it gains half of that minion’s ATK (Gives HP next turn!)
  • Rock Master Voone – Akali, the stone rhino [niveau 4, Bête]
    • 5/5. At the end of the turn, every 2 turns you get a non-golden copy of the leftmost card in your hand
  • Thorim, Lord of Storms – Veranas, Mount of the Stormlord [niveau 3, Dragon]
    • 6/3. At the end of your turn, transform the minion to the left of it into a higher level minion (Up to level 7!)
  • Snake Eyes – Covered wagons [niveau 4, Méca]
    • 6/6. At the start of your turn, you roll a 6-sided die. Discover a spell from the tavern of this level
  • Healer Holli’dae – The nine frogs [niveau 5, Bête]
    • 9/9. Once you recruit a minion, you get a random spell from the tavern of the same level (Another 9!)
  • Tae’thelan Watch the Blood – Attendant of the Reliquary [niveau 4, Elémentaire]
    • 7/4. Once per turn, when you cast a spell from the tavern, you get a new copy of it
  • Nameless – Without a face [niveau 4]
    • 1/1. Battlecry: You gain your partner’s Hero Power Companion
  • Cho – Halfus the Mighty [niveau 4]
    • 5/5. Discover a minion of your level at the start of your turn (50% chance of passing it!)
  • Gall – Halfus the Wise [niveau 4]
    • 5/5. Discover a tavern spell of your level at the start of your turn (50% chance of passing it!)
  • Madame Goya – Mr. Chu [niveau 4]
    • 5/6. Once per turn, when you have passed a minion, you obtain a non-golden copy of it.
  • Floup the Flasquaginous – Glorious fusion [niveau 5]
    • 5/1. At the start of your turn, you gain a non-golden copy of the highest level minion your partner has (except companions)

Changes to current lists

Obviously, with the return of the companions, balancing is planned. And we start with ETC, artistic agent who returns to the list of heroes. For his part, The Curator is excluded from games centered on demons.

  • Alexstrasza – Queen of Dragons
    • [Effet passif] At the start of your turn, discover a Dragon (Unlocks at level 4.)
  • Tae’thelan Watch the Blood – Search for the Reliquary
    • [Effet passif] Every time you purchase four spells from the tavern, the fourth costs (0) crystal
  • Rakanishu – Tavern lighting
    • [1 pièce d’or] You obtain a “luminous lantern” which grants a servant characteristics equivalent to your level

Servants are not spared from these changes. A large list of servants is bowing out to make way for new faces. Obviously, there are also some of the servants who are entitled to some alterations.

  • Barrens Blaster [niveau 3]
    • 2/6. Battlecry: You get a random minion with Deathrattle
  • Barrens Adjurer [niveau 5]
    • 6/2. Deathrattle: You get a random minion with Battlecry
  • Barren atrocity [niveau 6, tous]
    • 7/7. Deathrattle: Summons a 7/7 golem. Gives him +7/+7 for each type of allied minion that dies during this fight
  • First partner [niveau 4, Bête/Pirate]
    • 2/8. Once an allied minion with Deathrattle dies, you gain 1 gold on the next turn
  • Ghoul-acabra [niveau 6, Mort-vivant/Bête]
    • 2/11. Permanently give your minions +2/+2 every time you trigger a Deathrattle
  • Prince ‘Loc [niveau 4, Murloc]
    • 2/2. Each time this minion gains stats, add +2/+2 to that amount (wherever it is)
  • Murloc Fairy [niveau 4, Murloc]
    • 1/5. At the end of your turn you get a random Murloc
  • Crow’s Nest Sentinel [niveau 3, Pirate]
    • 5/2. Battle cry: gives +3 HP to your other pirates
  • pile of scrap metal [niveau 4, Mech]
    • 3/4. Battlecry: Choose an allied Mech. Discover a Mecha to magnetize
  • The Three Little Hurans [niveau 5, Huran]
    • 3/3. Deathrattle: Plays 3 blood gems on each of your Hurans
  • Jack the jumper (Duets only) [niveau 3, tous]
    • 3/4. The first time this minion is sold, pass it instead

What impact on the Battlegrounds meta?

With the return of the companions on Hearthstone, the Battlegrounds meta will evolve drastically. It’s difficult to know who or what will end up dominating the games, but Blizzard seems to be doing everything to highlight Duos mode. In addition, we seem to be moving towards the active generation of money thanks to servants who can generate others. The Barrens Adjurer is particularly strong, especially if you can obtain a golden version of it or duplicate its death rattle. This is a minion that should stand out quite easily in games.
