Blizzard has just announced (source in English) that several presentations of its novelties and new expansions concerning the World of Warcraft franchises (Hearthstone and World of Warcraft) are planned in the coming weeks. Indeed, the studio is preparing to unveil the future of Hearthstone and World of Warcraft, respectively on March 15 for HS and April 19 for WoW.
New for Hearthstone
The first meeting therefore concerns the Hearthstone franchise, which should experience three expansions this year. Thus, the developers should present in detail the first expansion of the lot as well as the main novelties and the roadmap for 2022. The theme of the year will also be revealed by Blizzard, as well as the first clues concerning future expansions, always inspired by the Warcraft universe.
World of Warcraft, the king is not dead
On the side of WoW, it is a new extension that will be unveiled from April 19. While 2021 has been a difficult year for the MMORPG, this announcement confirms Blizzard’s desire to continue investing and developing in World of Warcraft. The Founders story arc has only just begun, and the veil will only lift in the expansions to come. Azeroth still has a bright future ahead of it, if we go back there soon.
Two years after the release of Shadowlands, this new extension will probably be a major turning point for the franchise which has suffered a lot of criticism for some time.
A mobile game in the Warcraft universe
After several rumors evoking a Warcraft mobile game, Blizzard confirms with a conference in May which should lift the veil on this project. We do not know more for the moment, both about the universe itself and the type of game. Like the Mercenaries mode of HS, it could be a gacha in which the heroes of Azeroth would be featured.
These announcements are not surprising since Blizzard has always liked to communicate on these projects. However, these presentations compensate for the lack of BlizzCon, the annual meeting having been canceled again this year. So hopefully the extra time will allow for full conferences, reassuring fans about the future of both franchises.
