Blizzard: The number of developers doubled in 2022 for the survival game

Blizzard had slightly surprised its world by announcing, in January 2022, a survival game set in a new universe, and therefore a new license for the studio, the first since Overwatch in 2016. At the time, it was clarified by Mike Ybarra, co-president of the studio, that the project was already playable and exciting, while we learned, thanks to Craig Amai, that it had been in development for five years. So we hoped to hear from this survival game this year, but unfortunately Blizzard didn’t tell us anything.

However, when taking stock before the end of 2022, this same Mike Ybarra gives some meager details on the official site, indicating in particular that Dan Hay had become the general manager of the project, he who, for example, worked on the latest Far Cry as executive producer or creative director. We also learn that the size of the team has simply doubled in the last few months, and that it will grow even bigger in 2023, if all goes well.

Dan Hay, General Manager Survival – Leading the team that brings Blizzard magic to the genre while crafting our first new franchise since Overwatch. The size of the team has doubled this year and we are looking to grow it even more next year.

Let’s hope to have the first details about this new game soon, in order to see what Blizzard has prepared for us. Maybe we’ll get a sneak peek at BlizzCon, which will be back in 2023?
