Blockchain Association Schleswig-Holstein founded | BTC-ECHO

The non-profit association has set itself the goal of strengthening education and networking in the blockchain space.

A safe space in which blockchain topics can be explained, discussed and researched – that is what the one founded in October 2021 now offers Blockchain Association Schleswig-Holstein (BASH). In the press release on the foundation that BTC-ECHO has, the association describes its mission to inspire people, regardless of their level of knowledge, for the technology and to involve them in projects.

The heart of the BASH is a shared, virtual place where interdisciplinary groups can come together and learn from each other. The association wants to enable all interested parties to “find a place for more intensive discussion of this content and networking with other interested parties”. In addition, the knowledge generated should be used to advise politicians in the blockchain area. The organization promises to provide videos, information sheets, lectures, workshops and other events free of charge.

Blockchain on the curriculum

Through the cooperation with opencampus.sh enables the BASH up-to-date access to expert knowledge. Accordingly, blockchain sessions will be available from the winter semester 2021/2022. These are particularly interesting for students in Schleswig-Holstein, who can receive credit points (ECTS) as a result. The lectures deal with topics such as possible applications, smart contracts and cryptocurrencies. In addition, the courses are also free for schoolchildren, trainees, founders, research assistants, job seekers, refugees and pensioners.

In particular, students should find their way into the blockchain world at a young age. To this end, the association plans to offer short videos that it intends to make available to Schleswig-Holstein’s schools from spring 2022. The association told BTC-ECHO that it was important “that people learn to use digital technologies in their early years”. The focus here is not on the technical background of the technology, but rather on awakening “interest in new topics”. In addition, the association emphasizes that learning content is not limited to the topic of blockchain:

For us, the school environment also offers a suitable place to look at the topic of blockchain with all its facets from other perspectives. Core issues of the blockchain, such as decentralization or transparency, have a high social relevance even in non-technical processes and are therefore exciting areas of discussion for the holistic training of young people. (…) We want to impart basic skills that are not limited to blockchain applications, but can also be used in other areas.

Combat fear of contact

Like BTC-ECHO before reported, blockchain technology for the education sector has a lot up its sleeve. However, since this is only an abstract term for many people, the association tries to make the topic more tangible.

This is what the BASH by “putting the technical level at the back in the first step and describing the processes and functionality of the technology as practically and simply as possible”. Know that through the blockchain sessions they organize BASH-Team, which aspects of the topic are often inaccessible to most. This is how the club thinks:

Through events with practical lectures, networking among members as well as a wide range of educational opportunities, we want to reduce fear of contact and inspire many people for this technology.
