Bloody knife attack – jury agrees: 13 years in prison for attempted murder

A wild incident in a car repair shop was heard at the Linz regional court for two days. Ultimately, the jury came to the verdict that the bloody knife attack was an attempted murder. The main perpetrator and his accomplice received long prison sentences – not legally binding.

For the second time on Tuesday, two Chechens (33 and 46 years old) had to sit in front of the judge at the Linz regional court. As reported, the younger man is accused by the public prosecutor of having seriously injured his wife’s “ex” with a knife in March – with intent to murder The 33-year-old, who had four previous convictions, stood by his statements on Tuesday at the first trial date. He is also said to have injured two officers while in custody after his arrest. “His” chauffeur took a seat next to him in the dock. The 46-year-old is said to have driven his friend to and from the crime scene – the victim’s workshop in Haid. He denied any intention and claimed to have known nothing about the first defendant’s intentions. Jurors saw attempted murder. As was the case on the first day of the trial, things were hectic in the courtroom on Tuesday. The jury then had to decide whether, like the public prosecutor, they saw an attempted murder by the 33-year-old. They answered the question with “yes”. The non-final verdict: 13 years in prison for the main perpetrator, two and a half years for aiding and abetting intentionally grievous bodily harm for the accomplice.
