Blue lights and brains – smart police officers saved “Hansel and Gretel”

Hansel and Gretel with a difference: a Bavarian couple got so lost on the way to the Stauff castle ruins (Haibach ob der Donau) in the Danube valley that they finally asked the police for help. A clever patrol switched on the blue lights and was able to locate the exhausted couple and then rescue them.

A 44-year-old and a 47-year-old, both German citizens from Bavaria, intended to set off on the footpath along the B 130 Nibelungenstrasse Hinterberg towards the Stauff castle ruins at around 3 p.m., poorly equipped and without lamps. Emergency call made on the poorly paved road They finally got so lost in the sloping terrain that they made an emergency call around 5:40 p.m. The patrol car crew from the Neukirchen am Walde police station then went to search for the people in distress. Brought back to the car safely. The officers turned on the blue lights on the sloping forest path near the known position, whereupon cries for help were heard from the embankment. The police then descended on the exhausted hikers and rescued them from their predicament. As a result, both were safely returned to their car.
