Bluesky finally lets users see posts without logging in
Jay Graber, CEO of Bluesky, said: “ We designed Bluesky to be a place for public conversation – breaking news, commentary and analysis, jokes and more. And we’re taking a step closer to that goal by launching a public web view, meaning you don’t need to be logged in to see posts on Bluesky “.
He also adds that “ People can easily view messages from Bluesky without being logged in. Sharing will be more convenient, whether it’s a joke you want to text a friend or a message you want to embed in an article “.
Bluesky users can enable an option in Settings > Moderation > Visibility of logged out users to prevent the social network from showing their messages to logged out users. However, this limit only applies to Bluesky’s website and its own application. The company noted that other third-party clients may not respect this limit and still view your messages.
Abandoning the need to be logged in to view content isn’t the only change at Bluesky; there is also a new butterfly logo. The company says it is a “symbol of change and transformation” and that the butterfly emoji was used by Bluesky users when sharing their handles.
