BMW: a second line of battery modules in Leipzig

(CercleFinance.com) – BMW announced on Monday the commissioning of a second production line dedicated to the manufacture of battery modules at its plant in Leipzig, in East Germany.

This new unit must be intended for the production of electronic components for the BMW i4, its new 100% electric sports sedan assembled in Munich and which today enjoys “enormous demand”, explains the car manufacturer.

The project – which represents an investment of 70 million euros – should enable the creation of 250 jobs by the end of 2022, in addition to the 700 positions already associated with the first module production line, which was launched in May 2021.

This new unit will cover an area of 4250 m2.
