(CercleFinance.com) – BMW announced on Monday that it plans to open its new pilot plant dedicated to the production of battery cells
lithium-ion, later in the fall.
This site, which extends over 15,000 m2 in Parsdorf, not far from Munich, should allow the German automotive group to strengthen its expertise in the battery value chain, with a view to the launch of its new electric vehicle platform ‘Neue Klasse ‘.
The project, which represents an investment of 170 million euros partly financed by a subsidy from the Land of Bavaria, should employ some 80 people.
The start of production is expected by the end of the year.
