BMW: The Spartanburg plant 1st auto exporter in the USA


(CercleFinance.com) – BMW announces that for the ninth consecutive year, BMW Manufacturing has remained the leading automotive exporter by value, according to data published by the United States Department of Commerce. The Spartanburg plant, located in South Carolina, exported a total of 227,029 BMW vehicles.

The export value of sports and coupe vehicles reached $9.6 billion in 2022.

Germany has also become BMW Manufacturing’s leading export market (15.5% of export volume), followed by China (13.5%), South Korea (12.8%) , Canada (7.5%) and Great Britain (5.6%).

“Customers around the world continue to seek out superior quality BMWs made in South Carolina,” said Dr. Robert Engelhorn, president and CEO of BMW Manufacturing. ‘Our success is due to the highly skilled and dedicated workforce at the Spartanburg plant.’

The automaker says the Spartanburg plant produced 416,301 sports activity vehicles and coupes in 2022, the second-highest production total in the plant’s history.
